Questionnaire Responses

From our questionnaire results we discovered many things such as how we could improve the outcome of our horror trailer for it to be the most effective for a viewer in order for them wanting to actually see the film which the trailer is advertising. The ways we approached this is by using programs such as Surveymonkey and sharing this information with friends/family to gain as much feedback as possible, this would cause the most accurate average response as possible. We achieved this by creating a questionnaire on the website Surveymonkey and then sharing this by sending a link to the survey to people or by simply sharing this on social media. To gain the most accurate response we tried to get the same amount of boys and girls to answer the questionnaire, we managed to get an almost 50/50 boy to girl ratio. Most of the responses we gained were from people who were 24 and below as we thought this was the most likely target audience for our type of horror, but to stop this from being completely bias to this age we also asked other ages as well.

One of the questions was 'I find most films that i have watched, i have watched due to seeing it's trailer' this was to find out the importance of the trailer and to find out how much of the audience who would be likely to watch this film are brought to it by the trailer alone. About half of the audience agreed with this statement which shows the importance of the trailer over other types of advertisement.

The most popular film genre was shown to be comedy but horror was the close joint second as 50% of our audience put down horror being a favorite genre. This helped us realize the wide range in the market for different types of horror films.

We found out that the most popular horror sub-genre was psychological due to about %50 putting this as their answer over gore and paranormal. We have decided due to this that we may change our sub-genre to gain the largest target audience possible as this is a very important thing to gain a largest audience possible. We have chosen to make the psychological side to our story line more prominent to match these results.

We discovered from our results that most of our audience would be more likely to go watch a film if it was labelled 'the scariest film of all time' which shows how the scary element is such a large factor in this genre, however the fact that many of the answers came back with 'likely/defiantly' and 'not likely/definitely not' shows how jump scares and the scary factor of horror is not everything to the audience and is not what always makes the audience want to see a certain horror film, other things such as the narrative could be a large factor in this.

We lastly posted the synopsis for our film/trailer 'eyes' on the questionnaire and asked them to give their opinion on this, a large amount of the feedback pointed out that the 'unexpected ending' was largely effective in gripping the audiences attention. Some negative responses included some people saying that it needed more subplots and could do with being more detailed to inform the viewer better, someone also mentioned how it was a 'cliche teen movie'. We have taken this opinions into consideration and have planned ways to change the problems that have been pointed out.
