Magazine Analysis 1

This magazine cover works well due to the layout of the contents, the image of the woman is off centre which is unusual, this draws attention up to the top left hand corner of the layout which is where her face is situated. This unusual layout could mean it would be more popular with the public as it is not like most other magazine covers out there, meaning it would catch their eye. The placing of the cover line underneath the title is very effective as it seems to draw attention to the woman's hand where she has long dark red nails which are clearly part of her costume to show she has a dark dangerous side as well seductiveness, this is also shown through her red lipstick, which contrasts with her religious clothes and cross necklace. Some of the titles and texts on this cover are red which help link them with the image, the masthead of this cover is in bold red writing which relates with all of the conations of the red used on this image. The cover lines on this magazine fit around the image cleverly as they help to highlight the important parts of this image such as the women's hand holding the wooden stick, they are shaped around this object and the hand of the women. On this cover the image is the main focus therefore the main cover lines are given to this image and mention the series this is from as it is clearly used for the most part of the magazine inside. The other cover lines mention to other TV series. The strapline of this cover is shown to be very simplistic to not take away too much focus from the main image. Overall I think this is a very effective cover at how this new layout would be interesting to the viewer compared to the usual type of magazine cover.
