What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Audience feedback is a very important part when it comes to making a media product for a certain target audience. It helps to gain feedback from the certain type of audience to find out how to adapt a media product into something that would be most likely to gain their attention, this type of audience can give their opinion on your work and any pointers in how to approve it. This YouTube video is our class reacting to our first draft of our trailer 'Eyes', in the video they speak about the positive and negative points of our trailer and this gave us ideas of how to improve this for our final product. This type of feedback worked by the people in this video being around the age of our target audience for our product so we knew that their opinions would be the best in order to shape our product the best we could. For example The Woman in Black is a good representation of this by how they spent months gathering research from potential audiences of how to create the best horror film for them. They asked audiences what works well and what doesn't work well in their eyes and what would work to make the best overall outcome in order for them to gain the largest audience they possibly could.

The feedback we gained from our class was both positive and negative, it was important for us to gain everyone's opinion so we could decide on the best type of changes we could make gain a larger audience. I also asked a few of my friends for feedback as i thought this would be a less biased as their were asked on their own without others around to give their opinions. I also found it important to ask some people who were older their opinion because the audience would not be completely made up of young adults, for example they could take their parents with them to watch it, therefore it would be good to have some points that would be interesting for them.

The feedback the class gave us was extremely useful, they mentioned how we needed to add a soundtrack or even just sound effects to help link all the shots of the whole trailer together as it seemed like they had large jumps between each one without music. They also mentioned that the news reporter scene was really good but there was no clear storyline, I agree with these two statements as I think that the whole trailer seemed empty without music and there was confusion on the storyline and how it was best to put this across to the audience.

When it came to making the final draft of this trailer we took everyone's opinions into consideration by how we added background music to help build tension and so the shots better flowed throughout, we also decided to have more scenes in the trailer which helped to explain the narrative of the film it was advertising, this was to help interest the audience as the storyline is what would interest them. The feedback we gained for the questionnaires before the starting of the filming helped us to get the best footage we could when filming.
